This is the next evolution in backcountry bear safety! The bear alert is the best way to actively protect your food from bears in the backcountry. The Bear Alert is a weight-activated air horn that will go off when an animal pulls on your food. The device will alert you and deter the animal.

Compatibility: Designed to be used with the 1.5 oz/42g/35ml canisters from Kodiak or Frontiersman. *Air canister not included*

⚠️ CRITICAL COMPATIBILITY NOTES

*The Bear Alert mechanism requires a specific bag strength threshold to activate the air horn. Standard backpacking bags (ie. 1.4 DCF, Nylon, Expac, etc.) will fail or rip before the alarm triggers.

*Cordage used to secure a traditional food hang must have minimum tensile strength of 600 lbs.  Any carabiners used must also be rated for this weight (for food hanging applications).  For bags that are secured to tree trunks (ie. Grizzly Bear Bag), we have a pre-made adaptor sling that will be included in the kit. The sling has a tensile strength of 2500 lbs.
