**NOTE – the material of this bag will be very stiff when you first get it. You may need to work in the cinch closure in order to get it to close fully the first time. As you continue to use the bag, the fabric will become more flexible and easier to pack.**
So far so good but I've only been winter camping with it and not a lot of animals around. I will update my review after a summer trip if anything changes.
It is very stiff and difficult to roll but this will soften up as the website states (eventually). But when they say "waterproof", they mean only while hanging on a tree. It is not a "drybag" and even when rolled will not keep water out if you upset your canoe. Since it is so stiff, not sure I could roll it tight enough to keep a small mouse out right now. Maybe I need to spend a season working it to soften it up a little.
The tie does not (currently) cinch it closed, I know its stiff but I could put my hand through the hole after I cinched it as tight as I could. The strapping does go all the way around so it has the ability once it loosens enough. I did buy this one for the roll top though, mostly to keep the mice away as I have been bested by more than one mouse.
There might be a way to roll the top and tie it to a very small tree. Of course the ties are longer if you cinch it.
I like the price (on sale), weight and the size, lets see how long before I can get the fabric to loosen up some.
Not sure what the little loops on the sides by the buckles are for though.
