USES

Rain Canopy: On rainy days, stretch this tarp over your campsite to make a cozy spot for cooking meals, sorting your gear or just chilling. Shelters 2 to 3 people. Run a guyline from each corner to a tree. Or two trees and two ground stake-outs (slanted setup). If no trees, run two guylines over trekking poles and stake to the ground.

Windscreen: Set up this tarp at ~45-degrees to shield against wind or sideways rain. Stake one edge directly to the ground and stretch the other edge to trees or over trekking poles.

Ground sheet: Made from tougher material, this tarp works great as a ground sheet for your tent. Or just use it to spread out your gear while packing/unpacking.

Minimal Shelter: Can be pitched as a very minimal one-person shelter for moderate protection against rain, snow, and wind. Stake two corners to the ground and run guylines from the other corners to nearby trees or support with short (adjustable) trekking poles or sticks. This is a very minimal setup; for a roomier one-person shelter, consider a bigger size.

Emergency: Makes a lightweight addition to your emergency kit for long day hikes or shelter-to-shelter thru-hikes. Basically, anytime there is a chance of getting stranded overnight or in bad weather. Use the tarp to make a minimal one-person shelter or as a blanket against rain and windchill. This little guy can be a big difference maker.

SETUP FEATURES

Easy guyline attachment: All guylines come with a small hook on one end. So you can quickly loop it around a tree , snap onto a peg, or attach to another section of cord . No knots required! The open end of the cord runs through the line tensioner on your tarp for quick adjustment. This means you can fix the tension or even re-position the tarp without stepping out into the elements.

Sectional Cords (included in kit): Combine and disassemble sections of cord in a snap, so you get just the length you need, just where you need it. No leftovers. No cutting. No knots. Unused sections can be utilized for other needs around camp, or combine all sections to make a very long rope. Tarps and sectional cord were specifically designed to work as a unit.

DID YOU KNOW?  In cold weather, even a quick pit stop can cool you down rather quickly. But taking off your pack to layer up for a few minutes, while waiting on group members or having a snack, is too much hassle. Keep your mini tarp in a front pack or pocket for easy access, and quickly wrap up in it for warmth . The airtight DCF will prevent body heat from escaping during short breaks.

CAUTION  Avoid setting up your tarp near a fire pit. Sparks flying from wood fire can burn holes in DCF tarps. As with all DCF products, avoid sharp objects as they may puncture the material.

REPAIR  If you do get a small cut or hole in your tarp, repairing DCF is super easy on the fly by simply gluing a patch over the hole (included in kit). Plastic line tensioners and mini hooks will not snap under normal use. However, accidentally stepping or dropping a heavy object may crack them. So just in case, we include some replacement pieces with your tarp kit.

TARP SIZES   The “tough’ DCF_1.0oz tarp only comes in the small 6.5′ x 4.5′ size.
