About Our Company
Our mission is to create the most unique, lightweight and functional outdoor gear
Introducing Jeremy and Laura Corneil!
Jeremy was raised small-town Ontario, where his father instilled in him a deep appreciation for nature on the family farm and through his time in Scouts. His adventurous spirit took him on a solo motorcycle journey across Canada, solidifying his love of outdoor pursuits.
As a kid, Laura enjoyed climbing trees and building tree forts. As she grew up, she found her sense of adventure through travelling and exploring new places. She lived in France for a time and explored 9 different European countries solo.
Together, Laura and Jeremy are constantly seeking new adventures, whether it’s driving around Iceland in a minivan, journeying across the Arctic Circle, Key West for New Years Eve or hopping on a train to visit the Polar Bear Capital of Canada.
How it all began
In 2017, Jeremy and Laura decided to take their adventures to the next level and try backpacking. They stuffed all of their frontcountry gear into their backpacks and headed off to do the Mdaabi Miikna Trail in Pukaskwa National Park.
Here, they fell in love with walking into beautiful and remote places. They learned how peaceful and simple backpacking can be. However, their enthusiasm was dampened by heavy packs and sore muscles. This sparked their interest in lightweight gear.
Over the years, and thousands of kilometres later, they did the research, dialed in the gear and found a set up that worked for them. Together, they have backpacked the La Cloche Silhouette Trail, the Pukaswka Coastal Trail, the Lake Superior Coastal Trail, the East Coast Trail, the Casque Isles Trail, and the Heaven’s Gate Trail.
The “Adotec” Dream
As their interest for backpacking gear grew, so did their interest in making a life outside of the norm. Laura and Jeremy decided to combine their two dreams into one singular goal: Adotec. Their passion for the outdoors, creative spirits and pursuit of new and innovative backpacking gear has led them to build a company focused on gear that can’t be found anywhere else. Gear such as the “Caveman TV” smartphone holder and “Hiker’s Helper” Trekking Pole massage roller are innovative, lightweight and solve real-world backpacker problems.
For Adotec, lightweight gear is not just about shedding ounces, it’s about using your energy to enjoy experiences instead of haul conveniences. Whether your shedding weight for a minimalist experience, or simply to avoid the aches and pains of a heavy pack, their gear can help you meet your base weight goals.
Beyond Backpacking
In the off season, Jeremy and Laura pursue a variety of activities to keep in backpacking shape. While Jeremy enjoys playing hockey and mountain biking, Laura prefers to get out and explore a variety of local trails. She’s hiked the Bruce Trail, the Elgin Trail, the Avon Trail, the Thames Valley Trail and has recently started on the Grand Valley Trail.
